Buddhist Prague is a non-commercial, non-sectarian online resource showcasing free English-language mindfulness events happening in Prague and beyond. It was created by me, Scott, a local American proofreader, poet, parent, and Buddhist practitioner.

Here, you’ll find in-person meditation sessions, Zoom sessions from the US and UK, and various apps, audio teachings, and online university courses from around the world (e.g., from Harvard and Columbia). Everything here is 100% free, covering a broad range of traditions, from Theravada to Mahayana to Vajrayana, as well as secular mindfulness resources based in neuroscience.

This project was inspired as much by the ancient Indian practice of dāna (offering knowledge freely to nurture spiritual growth) as by Palouse Mindfulness, a free online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course that was my personal gateway into meditation (and for which I'm forever grateful – shout-out to Dave Potter!).

In the spirit of the Engaged Buddhism of the Venerable Zen master Thích Nhất Hạnh, I’m also exploring ways to connect traditional Buddhism to social action, particularly the resistance against racism, homophobia, and antisemitism in our sanghas (and their ripple effects in our societies).

In the words of Anne Frank, "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."

Please get in touch about potential collaborations and/or resources to add. 🙏

Best wishes,

Scott
